This article is baloney! First of all, he said they were strong and smart FIRST. Secondly, as a father, especially of Black women, he absolutely SHOULD tell his daughters they are beautiful. That’s why girls fall for the “game” these young, hormonal boys fill their heads with–because they didn’t hear how beautiful AND strong AND smart they were from their fathers, the man who is supposed to set the standard for all other males in a girl’s life, be they friends or significant others. How dare you criticize this man for being a doting father to his daughters! Your critique says a lot about him as a man–if that’s your biggest gripe with the leader of the free world, I’ll take it…

Dear JohnC – not sure if you read the article in question before deciding to comment (and to prove the author right in saying that generalisations which wouldn’t be accepted about other ethnic groups are still common when talking about Gypsies)

…but the article clearly states that “studies that have been carried out, mostly looking at the impact of Gypsies and Travellers within one community, have uniformly concluded that rates of crime did not rise as a result of the presence of these groups and that local settled communities found that their fears before the arrival of the Gypsies and Travellers were largely unfounded.”

If you have any evidence (ie crime stats, not your own prejudiced opinion) to refute the above claim, please post it. If not, your comment is ‘without a basis’

Well, perhaps, he was talking personally as opposed to objectifying them into all “women”. In any father’s loving eyes his daughter’s are more beautiful than anything in the world. This “doting” on them, making them feel special, is what empowers them later in life to know they deserve to be treated as if they are special and choose a man who will treat them as wonderfully as that first role model, their father. Every father should say that to their daughter every day!

Racism has nothing to do with communities not wanting Gypsies in their district. The problem is crime and anti-social behaviour. Gypsies have a reputation for theft. That reputation is not without a basis.

There should not be war between Egypt and Ethiopia because of the Nile. Both countries should come to an agreement how to share the water. Egypt can’t impose it’s will over Ethiopia anymore. Ethiopia has the right it’s God given resources with in its own boarders. Ethiopia never says Its going to divert course of the Nile nor block the flow of the water. Lets share equitably ….. That is Ethiopia’s stand forever.

Excellent and very informative, if a little optimistic (that could just be because i’m a cynic). The huge amount of money that western “civilised” governments and approved arms dealers made out of the conflict needs a mention though!
